After months of intense campaigns and preparations, electorates in Edo State will today storm polling stations to elect the next Governor of the State. Already, the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had confirmed that 19 political parties are jostling for the governorship position.
Nineteen male governorship candidates, 15 male running mates and four female running mates are in the race.
The governorship candidates with female running mates are Mr Thompson Osadolor, KOWA; Adviser Nowamagbe, UPP; Ishaka Ofemile, AA and Ukonga Frank, NNPP.
Other governorship candidates include Osagie Ize-Iyamu, PDP, with John Yakubu as running mate and Godwin Obaseki, APC, with Philip Shaibu, a member of House of Representatives, as running mate.
However, the two main contenders in the race are Ize-Iyamu of PDP and Obaseki of the APC.
As at 8:45am, electorates are already at their polling booths waiting for electoral materials from INEC officials.
