A girls hostel at the University of Uyo caught fire this afternoon. It started from a room and spread to two other rooms. Thankfully the fire was contained by man-o-war and fire service before it spread to more rooms. And more thankful is that no life was lost. The cause of the sudden fire is yet to be known. The All Progressives congress has finally accepted the Bukola Saraki as the Senate President after muck controversy generated by his recent election. The party’s national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Friday said the party has now accepted Senator Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate, saying having been elected by his colleagues, party was now ready to accept the reality and live with it. He said, " We don’t want to make a song and dance of it, everything is being put in proper perspective,”

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has once again alerted members of the public on activities of some fraudsters, using his name and photographs to operate fake facebook accounts, saying he does not have any facebook account... Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, in a statement issued on Friday, warned members of the public against falling victims of the fraudsters, operating the fake facebook accounts and using the accounts to demand money from unsuspecting people.

The Wife of the APC National leader, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has decided not to hide her grievances in the Senate floor on Wednesday after The Senate President,Dr. Bukola Saraki administered oath of office and allegiance on 75 other senators. the other senators comprised mainly of members of the Senate Unity Forum, loyal to Senator Ahmad Lawan, mobilised themselves to the chamber as early as 8:30am in order to be formally sworn in by Senator Saraki. They took turn to take their oaths by reading it out aloud after which they appended their signatures.

World Record: Oldest Domestic Cat "Tiffany" Dies At Age 27

The world’s oldest cat, Tiffany Two, has passed away at age 27. Tiffany, a black and orange tortoiseshell cat, was born on March 13, 1988, in San Diego, California. Her owner, Sharron Voorhees, bought the cat for $10 when it was 6-month old.

All for the Money!! Nigerian Dies in Indonesia as Hard Drugs Burst inside his Stomach

A 25 year old Nigerian man identified as Austin Chukwuna died on Sunday May 31st after the hard drugs he was smuggling out of Indonesia burst inside his stomach. According to Indonesian Police, Chukwuna had on Saturday May 30th lodged at a hotel close to the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Indonesia possibly with the intent of flying out with the drugs inside him, when he suddenly ran out of the hotel on Sunday morning, screaming.

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in Niamey, the Niger capital where he is currently discussing issues bordering on African security, particularly with regard to West African sub-region with the country’s President, Mahamadou Issoufou. The President had on Monday, through his media aide announced the trip that was scheduled for 8am today.

The regent of Akungba Akoko township in Ondo state, Princess Mojisola Omosowon has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen along the Owo-Akure road in Ondo state this morning. According to a palace source who spoke to Sahara Reporters, the regent was on her way to attend the inaugural lecture of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in Akure, the Ondo state capital when she was kidnapped by masked wearing gunmen.

President Muhammadu Buhari had written to the Senate asking for approval to appoint 15 Special Advisers. The Senate gave its approval in the course of the plenary session it held today. In the letter to the President of the Senate David Mark, which was read on the floor of the Upper Chamber, President Buhari stated that the appointment will enable him to do his work as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The News of her death gripped my heart, I feel absolutely sad to report that Rhythm 93.7FM PH on-air personality, writer and motivational speaker, Iphie Aggrey-Fynn was shot dead by armed robbers along Aba-Port Harcourt expressway yesterday. The Ghanaian-born OAP and blogger had gone to see her parents in Aba and was on her way back to Port Harcourt when their bus was attacked by armed robbers. As the driver attempted to speed away, the gunmen open fire on the bus, killing Ifeoma. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.
