Stock Exchange Records Gain With N34.8 Billion

Positive Streak as Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed in the positive terrain on Thursday, February 19, for the fourth consecutive trading day in the week.This positive development emerged as two basic indicators, the All-Share Index and market capitalisation appreciated by 0.35 per cent each.

Market capitalisation leaped by N34.852 billion to close at N9.770 trillion as against N9.735 trillion recorded on Wednesday,February 18, while the All Share Index went up by 104.46 basis points or 0,35 per cent to close at 29,282.04 points as against 29,177.58 points recorded on Tuesday, February 17.
Meanwhile, at the close of trading on Thursday, February 19, investors traded a total of 564.275 million shares valued at N6.087 billion in 4,385 transactions as against 424.325 million shares valued at N4.169 billion in 4,730 deals recorded on Wednesday, February 18, with the financial services sector accounting for a total of 362.920 million shares valued at N3.684 billion in 2,785 transactions as against 377.305 million shares valued at 2.298 billion in 2,879 deals recorded the previous trading day. Investors also traded a total of 302.336 million shares valued at N3.391 billion belonging to the banking sub-sector in 1,859 transactions as against 314.154 million shares, valued at N2.003 billion sold in 1,859 deals.
At the close of trading activities on Thursday, February 19, 25 companies made it to the gainers’ table as against 30 recorded Tuesday, February 17, while 13 were on the decliners’ table as against 11 recorded on Tuesday.
