President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the reinstatement of the security aides of Willie Obiano, governor of Anambra state.
Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Obiano complained directly to President Buhari about the withdrawal of his security aides. He was said to have issued the complaint when the president visited Awka for the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress governorship rally. Adesina said President Buhari directed Joshak Habila, the deputy inspector general of police, to facilitate the reinstatement of Obiano’s aides.
Obiano had on Tuesday cried out that his life was in danger after his aides were withdrawn.
Responding, Ibrahim Idris, the inspector general of police, had said the governor’s aides would be restored after the governorship election scheduled to take place on Saturday. The IGP said the withdrawal was based on the previous experience whereby the military caught an ADC to a governor escorting a vehicle loaded with arms on election day.
