Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers1.The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Friday asked President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw Nigeria from international religious organizations.
The group also asked the president to address insecurity in the country and ensure payment of workers’ salaries.


2.The Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Desert Foxes of Algeria on Friday played out a 1-1 draw in the last game of qualifying series for Russia 2018 World Cup in Constantine.
Israel-based midfielder John Ogu put the visiting West African giants ahead with a 61st minute left footed shot from outside the eighteen yard area but the Cabonese referee surprisingly awarded a controversial penalty to the home side in the 86th minute and Yacine Brahimi made no mistake with the spot kick.
3. Members of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) on Friday marched across major roads in Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State ahead of the November 18, gubernatorial election in the state.

The pro-Biafra group asked Anambrarians to boycott the election, threatening that whoever votes will die.
4. Organised labour in Kogi State has called off its strike.
Rising from the meeting of the organised labour and the state government in the office of the Deputy Governor of Kogi State on Friday, the chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kogi state, Comrade Onu Edoka said the labour union decided to suspend the strike having entered into agreement with government.
5.Nigeria Senate has approved the sum of $340 million World Bank loan for Ogun State for development policy operations.

The approval followed the report of the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, which was presented by Senator Shehu Sani on Thursday.

6. The Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People has urged the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to start the process of clearing the names of the nine Ogoni martyrs, Ken Saro-Wiwa and the other eight persons, who where executed in 1995, in the interest of justice.
MOSOP also urged Buhari to initiate the process of giving national honour to the nine martyrs, adding that immortalizing the individuals would perfect the quest for national healing and reconciliation.
7. The Chancellor, Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara, Bishop David Oyedepo, has advocated review of the nation’s education system for Nigeria to achieve the desired transformation.
The cleric said that only a standard and formidable education system could help to hasten Nigeria’s much desired socio-economic recovery, growth and development.
8. Counsel to the unidentified whistle-blower, who gave information leading to the recovery of huge sum from Flat 7B Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, Yakubu Galadima, says his client has not been paid the promised five percent.
Galadima described claim by the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu that his client has been paid and was being counseled on how to use the money as false.
9. Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Professor Eno Blankson Ikpe, is dead.

According to the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, Prof Ikpe died after a brief illness.

10. Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has warned that no amount of military aggression would intimidate members of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).
The Ijaw leader also believes that members of the Niger Delta Avengers are not necessarily afraid of the presence of soldiers in the region.
