The original twin towers were destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks which occurred on September 11, 2001.
The skyscraper, which cost $3.8 billion and took eight years to build, is now the tallest building in the United States.
Patrick Foye, the executive director of the Port Authority, which owns the new site, said in a statement:
“The New York City skyline is whole again.”
Publishing giant, Conde Nast will occupy the One World Trade area of the complex and is one of the tenants expected to move in today.
9/11 has been commemorated yearly to mourn and remember the 2,700 people who died in the wreckage of the twin towers.
